In 2017 we will be running our second leadership study tour to Israel/Palestine, as part of our programme to facilitate Jewish/Christian dialogue on issues surrounding the conflict. CCJ’s Israel engagement is all about creating opportunities for understanding by engaging with a broad range of Israeli and Palestinian voices.
The 2016 leadership study tour at St George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem
In 2016 we led our first ground-breaking study tour of Israel/Palestine for Christian and Jewish leaders and NGO activists.
The group met with experts on Christian-Jewish relations, senior Christian and Jewish clergy, representatives of the Israeli Government and Palestinian Authority, Christian peace activists in Bethlehem and the West Bank, the Head of the new Arab joint list in the Israeli parliament, representatives of Israeli NGOs’ working for a shared society between Arab and Jews in Israel, among others. The group also visited an Israeli Jewish settlement in the West Bank, a hospital in West Jerusalem and finished the trip by sharing their experience with His Excellency David Quarrey, UK Ambassador to Israel.
All members of the group expressed that they had learnt a great amount from the trip, both in terms of interfaith engagement in the UK as well as about Israeli and Palestinian narratives
