CCJ is appalled by the antisemitic words of the Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad at Cambridge Union. The decision to provide a platform for a Holocaust revisionist who frequently spreads antisemitic tropes is troubling. When questioned on his previous remarks about Jews and money the Malaysian PM responded, “I have some Jewish friends, very good friends. They are not like the other Jews, that’s why they are my friends”.
It is deeply concerning that the audience responded to this comment with laughter. In a time of rising antisemitism at UK universities it is vital that anti Jewish racism is treated seriously. Universities must listen to the concerns of their Jewish students and take a stand against the spread of antisemitism on campus.
