CCJ Statement re Rev Stephen Sizer
It is the responsibility of the Council of Christians and Jews, in accordance with its founding Constitution, to express concern when behaviour that is potentially prejudicial to harmonious interfaith relationships is drawn to its attention.
In this case, the Council received strong objections both to a link that the Revd Stephen Sizer, through his Facebook page, had made with a particular website, and to his delay in removing that link.
It was these matters that the Council drew to the attention of the Bishop of Guildford and to the Surrey Police – believing that it was for them, rather than CCJ itself, to decide whether or not appropriate action should be taken.
The Council of Christians and Jews has now received the advice of the Surrey Police, together with that of the appropriate legal authorities.
